O&L Leisure Fun Day at Midgard
In July, O&L Leisure hosted their first annual Fun Event at Midgard Country Estate with 160 team members from all four properties and the central office attending the event. The purpose of the event was to bring together team members from all O&L Leisure properties to build affinity and have FUN!
The event was a great success. Over the course of two days team members participated in a Big Brag competition and Service Brand Ambassador event. The sport tournaments included soccer, netball and skittle, whilst the festivities concluded with a Bali Boma BBQ and price giving evening.
A highlight of the event was that over N$ 10,000 was collected by team members as part of our social responsibility initiatives. The funds were distributed to various charities supported by O&L Leisure, again showcasing our purpose for creating a future and enhancing lives.
The winners crowned for 2018 are:
Service Brand Ambassadors – Egon Eiseb (Strand Hotel Swakopmund) and Olesetseng Seitsang (Central Office)
Best Dressed (Big Brag) – Central Office
Best Team Spirit – Strand Hotel Swakopmund
Best Team Spirit Individual – Charlotte Mouton (Central Office)
Soccer – Mokuti Etosha Lodge (Winners) and Midgard Country Estate (Runners Up)
Overall MVP Soccer – Lucas Weyyulu (Strand Hotel Swakopmund)
Netball – Strand Hotel Swakopmund (Winners) and Central Office (Runners Up)
Overall MVP Netball – Marusca Goliath (Central Office)
Skittle – Strand Hotel Swakopmund (Winners) and Midgard Country Estate (Runners Up)
Overall MVP Skittle – Thomas Gaeb (Midgard Country Estate)
Amalia Boshoff, Training & Quality Assurance Manager said of the event: “The event would not have been possible without the support of our Senior Leadership Team, sponsors and the TAP graduate trainees that worked hard behind the scenes to help plan, organize and facilitate the event. A huge thank you to each person whose contribution helped make this event the success that it was. A special mention also for the participants and supporters who really embraced the spirit of the event and displayed wonderful sportsmanship and camaraderie. Truly everyone is a winner and we look forward to hosting the next Fun Event at Mokuti Etosha Lodge next year.”

Exciting improvements on the horizon for Midgard As part of our 2025 vision, Midgard is undergoing an extensive refurbishment. In our drive to accommodate both conferences, events and tour groups, the decision was made to increase our room capacity. Some of the existing areas are being re-developed with additional room placement, as well as a new block of rooms being built overlooking the park area.
